Who We Are

CPD was created to enhance and reconstruct the interface between human rights and development with a vision to contributing innovatively to the task of tackling the causes of endemic poverty and its eradication in Akwa Ibom State (especially) and beyond.

CPD ‘Charity Shop created on February 3, 2012 to meet the needs of identified vulnerable persons living in poor condition with support/aid materials has since inception distributed various aid items to over 460 vulnerable persons: 274 women, 85 men, 40 babies, 41 girls and 20 boys.

 

CPD also uses some other basic entry points to achieve its goals and objectives, including: Gender, Economic Empowerment; Health Care and Environmental Protection; Democracy and Governance; Education; Research, Documentation and Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation.


What We Do

Over the years CPD has enjoyed good working relationship with its partners in and outside the state. This interaction has being in the areas of funding, implementation of programmes in the state and outside. CPD also partners with other organizations to implement development programmes across the country. Gender is at the heart of all CPD interventions, which are often implemented by strategically identifying the intended vulnerable populations and considering them from the conception of the projects through to the monitoring and evaluation stages.

  • Women Economic Empowerment Programme - Akwa Ibom Women Initiative in Atlanta –AIWA, (a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia –USA)
  • The Enhancing Nigeria Response to HIV/AIDS (ENR) programme - UKAID funded programme in collaboration with Akwa Ibom State Action Committee on (HIV/AIDS AKSACA)
  • Malaria in Pregnancy –MIP: ExxonMobil/Jhpiego
  • Strengthening the political participation of women in Nigeria: The United Nations Democracy Fund –UNDEF Round II Project
  • Women Economic Empowerment Programme – UN Women (UNDP Joint Basket Fund)
  • The AKS assisted HIV/AIDS Programme: Funded by World Bank/Akwa Ibom State Government
  • Women Economic Empowerment Programme – UN Women (UNDP Joint Basket Fund)
  • Gender Mainstreaming in the Design, Implementation and Monitoring& Evaluation of AK SEEDS
